Old Art Building - We're Still Open!
As HUNT continues its move around the current art building, tearing up and rebuilding paths, the entrances on the southwest corner of the building (nearest the Dean’s Office and Gallery) will be closed. Mulberry Street Sidewalk Closure Begins March 12th
On Monday, March 12, Hunt Construction Group will begin pouring concrete around the expansion site of the College of Visual Arts and Design (CVAD). In order to do so, they must close the sidewalk on the north side of Mulberry Street (the side closest to the existing CVAD building) for at least one month. We were looking out the windows from the 2nd floor computer lab today, checking the progress on the construction. We noticed the crews using something that looked like corrugated cardboard panels. The Cranes Have Arrived!
Wow, check out the size of that crane! This is the scene at the College of Visual Arts & Design this morning. The crane will be used to hoist the large concrete structural beams and other building materials in place. Construction to Block Sidewalks
On Monday, June 19, Hunt Construction Group will begin chilled water excavation for the expansion of the College of Visual Arts and Design. Exciting news in the life of the building project this week includes: Yes, we had a fire alarm go off yesterday. It certainly was an effective test of the deterrence capabilities of our alarms. Apologies for the tardiness of this week's update from the OAC. Big news this week: the power will be off in the Art Building starting 12noon tomorrow (Friday, 19 May) through the weekend. Make sure that all electronic devices are unplugged and I hope that you've removed food and defrosted any fridges/freezers!

OAC Meeting: 5/8/2017
If you haven’t already gotten the news, there are chairs for you to test and surveys about them to fill out in ART 214A – aka the green room. The power outage that is scheduled for the weekend of 20-21 May could require a more significant length of time. We are working on plans and will set you know as soon as possible as things progress.

Things continue to move along with drilling for piers -- 9 done yesterday -- and here are other updates: The gas is scheduled to be off in the building 9am-1pm today (3 May) for the tie-in needed for the new construction.
